A couple of people have questioned the appropriateness of discussing politics/Israel/Palestnian stuff on an experimental film website.
Here's my view for everybody to consider and comment on:(or disregard)
- It sure seems to be a very popular topic in the FRAMEWORK community, and experimental films often have a political component
(At the very least they offer alternatives to mainstream cinema) so for those people, and some others, this seems to be an appealing venue.
- Just because there's a bunch of ongoing comments derived from "Cameras for Gaza", doesn't mean that anybody else can't also be posting other stuff.
It's not a zero sum game. And, since the "Cameras for Gaza" emails are labeled as such, any of us can avoid opening them, skipping over to other stuff.
- Let's hope that the movies made by some of the "Cameras for Gaza" commenters are better than the political acumen evidenced by their public statements, eh? (FRAMEWORKS is a public forum, after all)
