David and all,
Amazing! TWO days ago I bought an Eiki with EXACTLY this problem. The
material around the focus knob shaft is totally shredded, so the lens
wont' focus. Indeed, the lens won't even stay in the lens housing - it
just slides back and forth - because of this problem. Could you be
more specific about re-building the shaft? For instance, how many
layers of heat shrink tubing are necessary? What exactly is the process?
Pardon my ignorance of these things, but other than the focus knob
problem this is a nice little projector that I'd like to salvage.
Thanks in advance - this is one of many reasons I love Frameworks.
