Pres (Lester Young) was a master in the heyday of Swing, but his
style even back then (viewed now in retrospect) happened to ALSO
(simultaneously!) contain the beginnings, the hints, the clues, the
attitude, the ideas, the tendencies, the seeds of an eventual
change that would ultimately lead to a blossoming of and enthusiasm
for a "radical" new modernism that would ultimately UNSHACKLE
history from Swing in favor of Bop, then Cool, then on.
We point to him.
