Thanks for all the responses.

I've been working on this for the last three hours, made some progress
in understanding what the real problem is, but still not getting
there. The issue is way too case specific to describe shortly, I will
try to give more details sometime else, not necessarily with the hope
of getting help but I think these are interesting issues. (mpeg-2 can
be interlaced, by the way)

One of the videos I'm trying to export "correctly" is below. Here,
it's completely deinterlaced, so there are no problems, but it also
isn't as interesting as it is when interlaced. Interlaced, most of the
image keeps vibrating even when there is little movement.

I found out that the real issue is with the first part of the video,
the faster part. The rest worked fine after some trials I did today.
