Alain, sorry for asking, but are you positive? I am asking because this really orients my workflow and future acquisitions (DC motors are easy to speed-regulate for sync, AC's are really tough). I have a service manual for an ex-5020 which indicates an AC motor...

DC motors, except for the "Economy" models that used AC motor (no transformer, very light).
